Designed by BDP, Chapman Taylor and Piper Whitlock Architects for Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, a joint venture between Legal & General and Schroders along with Bracknell Forest Council, The Lexicon provides a new social and cultural heart for the town, offering a series of green landscaped squares for entertainment and events, and a high quality mix of shops and leisure venues connected in a pedestrian‑friendly environment.

The success of the regeneration of Bracknell Town Centre relies heavily on the design of the new public realm and the improvement of connections around the Town Centre.

Gillespies' landscape design places emphasis on intuitive movement through the development, creating a series of large and small public squares that link to smaller routes, shopping avenues and the main High Street — renamed The Avenue. Incorporating new paving, street furniture, lighting, planting, and lined with semi‑mature trees, the new town squares are distinct from the movement corridors and provide an opportunity for visitors to dine, convene, relax and enjoy the surrounding environment.
