At Gillespies we understand that our people are our most valuable asset. Our collective creativity, diversity, and passion for design is the root of our long success. However, we recognise that friendships and team spirit are also cultivated outside of the office, and therefore encourage and facilitate a range of socials and community activities, such as trips to nurseries and gardens, summer away-days and charity sporting events.
We offer you a career which allows you to continuously learn, grow, challenge the norm and collaborate: a working environment where innovative thinking and creative design is actively encouraged and rewarded. You will benefit from working alongside a collective of talented designers, from across the world, in one the UK’s leading landscape architecture, environmental planning and urban design firms.
If you are driven by the idea of creating beautiful, memorable, healthy and sustainable developments, our wide-ranging portfolio of projects will challenge your current way of thinking, strengthen your design skills and offer you an opportunity to design your future.
I had my sights set on Gillespies from half-way through university, as it’s a company whose design principles I very much admire. I’ve been part of the Gillespies family for a year now, and work with a close-knit team who are as passionate about the design profession as I am. There is never a dull day at Gillespies.

Gillespies broad range of projects and focus on landscape architecture was an attractive asset to me as a graduate landscape architect. Since joining, I have been immersed in a wide range of projects, both large and small in scale and at a variety of stages from concept through to detailed design, providing me with the essential skills needed to progress within the profession. The office provides a welcoming and friendly environment whilst never failing to create a diverse and challenging range of projects for me to work on.

Gillespies provides the opportunity for creative, environmentally-led design, involving junior members of the team throughout the whole process. The wide breadth of exciting and innovate projects across a range scales has provided an inspiring, fast-paced working environment. From large public realm schemes in Shanghai to smaller, people-focused projects in East London, I’ve been given the opportunity to develop myself professionally, as well as work in a fun environment. Top tip, the Friday drinks are always worth a visit!
Eleanor Godfrey, Senior Landscape Architect, London
The cultural diversity here at Gillespies makes for a refreshing social environment to work in, not to mention all the international treats and goodies we get to eat! The international diversity for projects is also prevalent, allowing us to be a part of a wider global community. We are encouraged to excel and broaden our skills as individual designers through workshops, site visits, conferences and international trips, allowing us to explore and push the boundaries of the industry we work in.
Alison Baxter, Senior Landscape Architect, Oxford
Gillespies provides lots of exciting opportunities to work on a diverse range of prestigious projects. This breadth of high profile projects and company reputation is essentially what drew me to Gillespies back in 2013. Since joining the company, I’ve been involved in a mix of schemes including large residential, education and regeneration projects, as well as several design bids and competitions. I’m currently overseeing the latest phase of public realm for Wellington Place – a Grade A commercial development project in the heart of Leeds City Centre. And although this particular project is on our doorstep, I also get the chance to work on schemes across the country.
