After graduating from Leeds Beckett University with a postgraduate diploma in Landscape Architecture, Sam Hutchison worked for a number of leading landscape architecture practices before joining Gillespies in 2013.

Sam has over 7 years’ professional experience in the design and delivery of both UK and international landscapes. Often involved from inception through to completion, his diverse portfolio ranges from the creation of large-scale international visitor attractions to the detailed design and implementation of landscapes and roof gardens for residential, commercial and educational developments.

Sam led the design coordination of the prestigious Roman Baths in Beirut, a series of gardens and squares centred around the preserved archaeology of the city’s Roman Baths. He was also involved in the design of a monumental waterfront park in Abu Dhabi.

Most recently, Sam has been instrumental in the design of a 300-metre-long roof garden and public realm for the 1 million sqft new Google headquarters in King’s Cross and a luxury courtyard for a gated-residential development in Kensington for client Native Land.

Sam has a particular expertise in Computer Aided Design and has taken on responsibility in leading the management and implementation of CAD across the practice, in addition to the management of the BIM process on large international projects.
