Macallan Distillery makes TIME magazine’s list of ‘The World’s Greatest Places 2019'

The Macallan Distillery and Visitor Centre has earned acclaim as a must-see destination for international travelers, making it to Time magazine’s prestigious list of ‘The Top 100 World’s Greatest Places 2019.’ It is one of only three UK locations featured.

Malcolm Roughead, Chief Executive of VisitScotland, remarked, “The inclusion of The Macallan on this prestigious list highlights its prominence in the UK. This development will enhance the unique character of Moray Speyside and establish it as a must-visit destination.”

Opened in 2018 and designed by architects RSHP, The Macallan Distillery Experience has already garnered accolades for its innovative design. Gillespies created a striking, undulating green roof that subtly conceals while hinting at the whisky production inside. Situated in Speyside, an Area of Great Landscape Value, the facility is seamlessly integrated into the sloping terrain, with its distinctive roofline visible from afar. A series of dramatic arrival spaces guide visitors through evolving landscapes that gradually reveal the architectural marvel beneath.
