Using nature to enhance one of London’s most exclusive addresses

Contemporary landscape design at One Hyde Park London featuring formal planting, urban greenery, and integrated public realm architecture.

Located in the heart of Knightsbridge, overlooking London’s Hyde Park, One Hyde Park is a collection of luxurious apartments and duplexes set within beautifully sculpted landscapes.

The project consists of a series of luxury apartments across four pavilions above a continuous ground ﬂoor retail area. Gillespies designed the landscaping to provide a link between the park and street scene through vertical planted surfaces and a major street tree planting programme.

A realignment to the street edge provides several conservatory spaces that facilitate direct access to the retail areas. Continuity of paving treatments and an innovative planting palette including trees suspended within a pool of water aim to make these welcoming and dynamic public spaces.

Tailoring the design to accommodate the existing mature trees called for a range of innovative structural solutions, including an ultra-slim road deck developed with ARUP and designed to span over the existing root zone.

The team collaborated with a series of commissioned artists on the exterior areas, including James Turrell on lighting and Wendy Ramshore on metalwork.
