The masterplan for Madinah Central Area creates a vibrant and welcoming destination for pilgrims, visitors and residents alike, enhancing its status as an ancient Islamic heritage destination.
Our masterplan and vision for Central Area creates an attractive, safe, and comfortable environment for its citizens and visitors. The urban fabric and community infrastructure promote both social connectivity and cultural heritage.
Orientated towards a hugely expanded Prophet’s Mosque, the revised development framework includes a network of pedestrian-friendly streets, boulevards and open green spaces that simplify the flow of crowds to and from the capital centre during peak periods, as well as offering additional space for prayer and community gatherings.
Residents and visitors will enjoy a distinctive and serene setting with new areas of public realm, open green spaces and improved streets with shading and planting that will aid crowd control, comfort and encourage chance encounters. In addition, the improved transport systems will cater for an additional 500,000 people an hour, conveniently delivering visitors directly to the centre.
