Heart of Doha Phase 1A is a landmark development of public realm alongside new and renovated civic, cultural and heritage buildings.
Gillespies was commissioned to undertake Concept design through to Construction supervision for Phase 1A and Al Rayyan Road based upon traditional, site specific, design principles.
The development will include high quality public spaces to create an iconic landmark area, which will reinvigorate the centre of Doha.
Gillespies is designing a series of urban squares, courtyard gardens and pedestrian routes that will unite the newly created Phase 1A to form a vibrant, cohesive environment for residents and visitors alike. The scheme will reference local culture and traditions whilst providing a contemporary vision for future development. Planting will be selected by local significance and their ability to thrive in the extremes of temperature. The new Al Rayyan road will form the northern boundary of Phase 1A and provide an unparalleled backdrop for ceremonial and public gatherings alongside the Diwan Quarter.
