Oliver's bio
Oliver Smith is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 20 years of experience in public realm design, town centre regeneration, and landscape architecture across the UK and internationally. Based in Gillespies’ Oxford studio, he is widely recognised for his leadership in designing vibrant, inclusive, and pedestrian-friendly public spaces that integrate heritage, sustainability and community needs.
Oliver has delivered several high-profile landscape architecture and public realm projects in Oxford and Bristol, including the University of Oxford’s new Humanities Building, Oxford Science Park, and the award-winning Westgate Oxford development. These schemes demonstrate his ability to enhance urban connectivity, embed biodiversity and climate resilience, and sensitively respond to historic urban contexts.
His wider portfolio spans civic squares, green infrastructure for higher education and commercial campuses, and the transformation of heritage town centres. Internationally, Oliver has worked on sustainable education and hospitality projects such as Masdar City in Abu Dhabi and coastal developments like Synchro Yards and Boco Place in Montenegro.
