Joana's bio
Joana Quintas is a Senior Landscape Architect with an academic background in architecture and a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Greenwich, where she graduated with a distinction. Prior to joining Gillespies in 2016, Joana gained extensive experience at several leading landscape practices in London, Lisbon and Bologna, where she was involved in all design stages of many high-profile international projects.
Inspired by her architectural background, Joana draws inspiration from the landscape and its social context, encompassing art, architecture and heritage. Her designs are influenced by the narratives emerging from the relationship between the built environment and natural landscapes. Most recently, Joana has been instrumental in the design, planting and technical delivery of landscapes associated with several commercial and residential developments in London, notably 14 Westfield Avenue, a highly sustainable roof terrace focused on human wellness, for HMRC in Stratford, and the delivery of meaningful landscapes for a luxury residential development in Battersea for client St William Group. Internationally, she has worked on the design of a series of dramatic and valuable landscapes for a world-class new terminal at Taiwan International Airport, and a series of unique residential landscapes for pioneering schemes in Shanghai, China.
