Hana's bio
Hana Shin is a Landscape Architect at Gillespies, known for her artistic and sculptural approach to urban design and public realm projects. Her work explores how creative thinking and material expression can shape urban and peri-urban landscapes that support both communities and the natural environment.
Hana is interested in how the artistic mind can uncover new ways to interpret place and form, resulting in designs that are inventive, unique and environmentally responsive. Her ambition is to create landscapes that are kind to nature, socially and culturally enriching, and that encourage collaboration within communities.
A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Hana holds a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture. Her dissertation proposed a new model for a green distillery on Glasgow’s Queen’s Dock, using industrial ecology and water memory theory to reimagine the public realm as a productive and biodiverse landscape. The concept combined habitat creation, pollinator-friendly grasslands and recreational spaces on land and water.
Since joining Gillespies, Hana has brought her creative approach to a range of projects across London, including the redesign of Paddington Central Amphitheatre and the delivery of biodiverse landscapes at King’s Road Park, transforming a former gasworks site in Fulham into a thriving new neighbourhood.
