Ed's bio

Ed Barwell is a Principal Landscape Architect, based in Gillespies' London studio. He is passionate about integrating green infrastructure into the public realm to make cities more sustainable, biodiverse and connected to the natural environment.

Since joining Gillespies in 2016, Ed has contributed to several major landscape design projects that enhance health and wellbeing through access to high-quality open space. His portfolio includes the landmark Centre Building redevelopment for the London School of Economics, featuring a new square and a series of green roof terraces, and the Thames Tideway Tunnel, where he was instrumental in the concept design for new public spaces alongside and actually on the River Thames.

More recently, Ed has played a key role in shaping the landscapes at King's Road Park, transforming a gasholder site in Fulham into a welcoming and inclusive public realm that supports community life and contemporary living.

Ed holds a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Sheffield.
