Alejandro's bio

Alejandro Gatica is a Principal BIM Manager at Gillespies, responsible for leading the implementation, coordination, and delivery of BIM for architecture and landscape architecture across the Manchester and Leeds studios. Since joining the practice in August 2021, he has played a key role in embedding Revit-based workflows, ensuring data consistency, and supporting the integration of digital design tools across multidisciplinary teams.

A qualified Part II Architect, Alejandro holds a master’s degree in BIM platforms and methodologies from Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Seville, Spain. He is a certified Autodesk Revit Professional in Architectural Design, with advanced expertise in visual programming using Dynamo and Grasshopper to support parametric modelling, model automation, and data-rich digital project delivery.

Before joining Gillespies, Alejandro worked for a leading architectural consultancy in Dubai, where he delivered coordinated 3D BIM models for large-scale developments in Canada and the Middle East. His strong understanding of BIM architecture, combined with a background in design and visualisation, makes him a key contributor to digital innovation at Gillespies.

Key projects include the development of a BIM model for the landmark rooftop landscape at Google’s new headquarters in King’s Cross, a new grassland habitat and overnight accommodation at Chester Zoo, and the elevated viaduct park above Stockport Interchange Bus terminal.
