Plans approved for the next phase of King's Road Park

Exciting progress continues at King’s Road Park, with the next phase of the masterplan receiving planning approval.

The team has secured detailed planning approval for Phase 4, bringing 357 new homes and 1.9 acres of beautiful parkland and public open space to this growing neighbourhood in Hammersmith & Fulham.

Designed by Foster + Partners in partnership with landscape designers Gillespies for client St William (part of Berkeley Group), the approved plans include a pair of residential towers of 28 and 38 storeys and a seven-storey podium building, complete with residential amenity terraces and extensive biodiverse roofs. The buildings sit within a new open landscape, which includes a new community park, public square, children’s play areas and walking routes.

Nature is at the heart of this vision, with a carefully curated planting and tree palette that enhances the park’s unique character. A rich mix of native and adaptive species will ensure resilience, promote biodiversity, and soften the urban landscape. Shade and feature trees will define key spaces, creating a vibrant canopy that evolves with the seasons, adding depth and colour throughout the year.

The planting scheme is designed to offer variety and visual interest, with an emphasis on texture, seasonality, and habitat diversity, creating a dynamic and inviting environment for residents and visitors alike. The development is set to achieve an impressive 112% biodiversity net gain, with an urban greening factor of 0.45—exceeding the GLA’s benchmark for residential projects.

King’s Road Park is being developed on a redundant 16-acre gasworks within the Fulham Riverside Regeneration Area. Once all phases are complete, this new community will include over 1,800 homes, more than 600 of which will be affordable homes, 6 acres of public parks and open space and around 100,000 sq.ft of new commercial uses.

A restored Grade II* Listed gasholder - believed to be the oldest surviving in the world - will be the historic centrepiece of King's Road Park as a reminder of this site’s unique legacy.

It has been a wonderful experience working with such an incredible client and team: St William (Part of Berkeley Gorup), Lichfields, GIA, Urban Microclimate, Buro Happold, Apt, BB Seven and Neaves Urbanism.
