HS2 Phase 2a gets Royal Assent

High Speed Two, the UK’s new high-speed railway, has taken another step forward following Royal Assent being granted in Parliament for the HS2 Phase 2a hybrid Bill. This significant milestone has secured HS2 Ltd the power to construct and operate the accelerated section of the Phase 2 route between Fradley and Crewe.

Over the last four years, Gillespies has supported Arup’s landscape and engineering teams in delivering the Phase 2a hybrid Bill, providing support on landscape and visual mitigation proposals, landscape and visual assessment, and authorship of hybrid bill documents. The practice has also worked closely with Arup on Phase 2a APs and Phase 2B of this major infrastructure project.

Phase 2a will connect with Phase One in the West Midlands to carry passengers between London and Crewe.
