Gillespies to design public realm for Phase 2 of London's Elephant Park

Gillespies has been appointed by Lend Lease to be the public realm designer for the second phase of Elephant Park, the regeneration of the Heygate Estate in Elephant and Castle, south London.

Following its design of the landscape masterplan for Phase 1 (MP1), Gillespies has been appointed as public realm designer and landscape designer for Phase 2.

The scheme by Lend Lease plans to deliver up to 2,500 homes together with retail, offices and Central London's largest new park for 70 years, between now and 2025.

The plans include an innovative tree strategy devised by Gillespies. This ensures that as many of the existing trees as possible are either retained, re-sited or replaced, and overall around 1200 trees will be planted.
