Tom's bio
Tom Walker is a Partner at Gillespies and leads the Leeds studio. A Chartered Landscape Architect and Urban Designer, Tom brings over 35 years’ experience across the full spectrum of landscape and urban design.
His expertise spans urban visioning, strategic frameworks, masterplanning, and policy development, as well as detailed landscape and public realm design. He has also acted as an expert witness at planning inquiries.
Tom has delivered projects across a wide range of sectors – from office campuses, visitor destinations, and zoos to residential communities, leisure developments, and public transport infrastructure – with work spanning the UK, Ireland, the Middle East, and China.
He has served as a Design Council/CABE Space Enabler and is currently a member of the Design Yorkshire Design Review Advisory Panel. A dedicated advocate for the profession, Tom actively supports Leeds Beckett University’s urban design and landscape architecture courses through recruitment, crit sessions, and guest lectures. He is also proud to serve as a Landscape Institute Ambassador.
