Originally from France, Armel Mourgue is a highly experienced landscape and public realm designer with over 20 years’ experience delivering award-winning projects in the UK and internationally. His diverse portfolio spans public realm regeneration, parks, residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, working across a wide range of scales and budgets.

Armel’s work is defined by a thoughtful integration of contemporary public spaces within the historic fabric of cities, aiming to foster human interaction and cultural expression. His designs are deeply rooted in local context, drawing inspiration from the site’s character, history, tradition, and natural features.

He is particularly renowned for his expertise in elevated landscapes, having led the design of several iconic sky gardens in London, including Crossrail Place Roof Garden, the Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street, Landmark Pinnacle and, most recently, the new Google headquarters at King’s Cross.

Armel has also been responsible for leading the the site-wide masterplan and subsequent phases for Elephant Park, the major regeneration of the Heygate Estate into a vibrant green district in central London. When complete in 2026, the project will provide around 2,500 new homes, retail spaces, and 11 acres of new public realm, including a central community park.

In addition to his professional work, Armel is a visiting lecturer at the University of Greenwich, where he shares his knowledge and passion for landscape design with the next generation of designers.
