Adam Greatrix is a Partner in Gillespies’ Leeds studio, with over 20 years’ experience delivering transformative landscapes and public realms across the UK. With a background that bridges both architecture and landscape architecture, Adam brings a uniquely integrated approach to urban design, crafting regeneration strategies, masterplans, and design guidance that reimagine how cities function and feel.
Adam is a passionate advocate for an ecosystem-led approach to public realm design, placing equal value on people and biodiversity. His work champions a bold environmental vision, rethinking urban spaces as living systems that foster climate resilience, community wellbeing, and ecological richness.
Known for his creativity and technical rigour, Adam has delivered a range of innovative and distinctive public realm projects, often leading complex, multi-disciplinary teams through every stage of the design process, from concept to community engagement.
He has won two international design competitions: the St Cuthbert’s Garden Village Landscape Design Competition, and the Landscape Institute’s Transforming the Urban Landscape Competition for his visionary think piece, Back Down to Earth, a compelling call for innovation in green infrastructure and ecosystem-led planning.
