Two projects shortlisted for a National Urban Design Award

Two projects where Gillespies designed the public realm and landscapes have been shortlisted at the 2018 National Urban Design Award - Aldgate and Southall Waterside.

At Aldgate, Gillespies have delivered designs for a series of high quality public spaces on the eastern edge of the City of London, as well as a garden setting for the Grade I listed St Botolph Without Aldgate Church. A main square will offer a vibrant destination, centred around a new pavilion (designed by MAKE Architects). A large lawn with seating opportunities and water features will ensure the space is used all year round.

Gillespies is delivering landscape design for Phase A of the Southall Waterside Masterplan, a new dynamic residential neighbourhood on the site of the former Southall Gasworks in the London Borough of Ealing, for client Berkeley Group. The landscape design will create a myriad of external spaces that not only contribute to the setting and uses of the buildings but add to the enjoyment of the wider community. Two large parks will provide dedicated open space to promote leisure, play and relaxation, whilst forming a green spine between the urban town centre of Southall and the countryside setting of Minet Country Park.
