Gillespies appointed to deliver the new landscape designs for Phase A of the Southall Waterside Masterplan

Gillespies has been appointed to deliver the new landscape designs for Phase A of the Southall Waterside Masterplan, a new dynamic residential neighbourhood on the site of the former Southall Gasworks in the London Borough of Ealing.

Berkeley Group is transforming the 88-acre brownfield site into an exciting new mixed-use destination, comprising some 3,750 new homes, along with up to 500,000 square feet of commercial space and 3 hectares of landscaped public realm and parkland.

The landscape design will create a myriad of external spaces that not only contribute to the setting and uses of the proposed buildings but add to the enjoyment of the wider community, seamlessly integrating the development within its surrounding context.

The Southall Waterside Masterplan includes two new major parks that will provide dedicated open space to promote leisure, play and relaxation, whilst forming a green spine between the urban town centre of Southall and the countryside setting of Minet Country Park. Gillespies has prepared a landscape vision for the central park, in order to detail design the first section of this major public open space that will be delivered with Phase A.

Phase A will also see the creation of several semi-private courtyards providing safe and secure green amenity space and play for its visitors and residents, alongside a network of safe cycle paths and walkways that will improve connections to the bordering Minet Country Park and a more generous public realm next to the Grand Union Canal.
