Planning approved for BBC TV Centre

Planning approval has been won to redevelop the iconic BBC TV Centre in London's Shepherds Bush into a mixed-use development that retains its listed buildings. This is being developed by Stanhope plc. It will include office and studio space for the BBC, entertainment and leisure facilities, public open space, offices, housing and a hotel.

The project team is led by AHMM architects. Gillespies' role is to combine accessible and welcoming open spaces, parkland and green spaces, with a high quality de-cluttered setting for the buildings at street level.

For the first time, Television Centre will be opened up to the public and its famous forecourt remodelled.

The redevelopment will also provide connectivity with the local area, including Hammersmith Park. The new office space will be aimed at the creative sector and there will be a variety of public uses, including a cinema, health club, restaurants and cafes, which will benefit the local community.
