Hybrid planning application submitted for Clarendon Dock in Belfast
Building on the successful delivery of Belfast City Quays Gardens, we are pleased to mark a major milestone in the ongoing regeneration of Belfast’s waterfront with the submission of a hybrid planning application for Clarendon Wharf. Located in the heart of Belfast City Centre, this transformative mixed-use neighbourhood is being brought forward on behalf of Belfast Harbour and represents the next chapter in the city’s evolving relationship with its historic docks.
Developed in collaboration with Maccreanor Lavington Architects, the masterplan sets out a clear and ambitious vision for a new harbourside destination focused around the historic Clarendon Dock. The proposals seek to create a distinctive and characterful quarter that re-establishes strong physical and visual connections between the waterfront and the city centre, while celebrating the site’s maritime heritage.
Strategically positioned within walking distance of the Cathedral Quarter, Clarendon Wharf will deliver approximately 600 new homes alongside a rich mix of commercial, leisure, community, and cultural uses, as well as a hotel and apart-hotel offer. More than four hectares of new and enhanced public realm, designed by Gillespies, will form the heart of the neighbourhood, providing high-quality, accessible spaces that support daily life, social activity, and long-term placemaking.
Clarendon Wharf represents a unique opportunity to reconnect Belfast with its historic docks, creating a vibrant, enduring neighbourhood that contributes meaningfully to the city’s economic, social, and cultural future.
