An international design competition for the development of Park Russia, a 1000-hectare ambitious tourism and cultural project located 30km south of Moscow near Domodedovo airport. It is estimated that the park will draw 10 million visitors a year.
As part of a winning consortium by Cushman and Wakefield, Gillespies led a design team to deliver a business strategy and masterplan showcasing three main park zones for Park Russia, a design contest organised by the Russia Geographic Society and Moscow Region Government.
The designs for Park Russia feature inspiring and compelling visions captured in a robust masterplan framework, designed to be delivered over the next twelve years. Gillespies' masterplan included the development of a resort destination and a theme park comprising three main zones, drawing on Russia’s history, cultural legacy and future plans.
Elements of Park Russia will include a waterpark, botanical gardens, a safari park, the amusement park, an exhibition centre and a golf course, alongside leisure and shopping facilities.
