Kenneth's bio

Ken is an experienced urban designer and masterplanner with over 25 years’ experience delivering urban design, regeneration and masterplanning projects across the public and private sectors. As an Associate Partner in Gillespies’ Manchester studio, he leads the practice’s urban design and regeneration portfolio across the North of England, helping to shape sustainable and people-focused places.

A creative yet pragmatic designer, Ken has led and contributed to a wide range of urban regeneration, town centre, and mixed-use masterplans, working closely with clients, local authorities and communities from concept through to implementation. His work spans every scale,  from strategic masterplans and infrastructure frameworks to the design of streets, public spaces and neighbourhoods.

With a background in architecture, transport and highways, and expertise in visioning, development feasibility, design codes, design review and community engagement, Ken brings an integrated and collaborative approach to placemaking and urban transformation.

Key projects include Liverpool City Centre strategic framework, Rochdale Town Centre redevelopment and University of Manchester landscape masterplan.
