Revealed: the ‘Rochdale Carpet’

Images have been released showing some of the stunning designs for the paving stones which will be placed outside the refurbished Rochdale Town Hall.

The designs, which are being etched onto the natural paving slabs supplied by Hardscape and IP Surfaces, form part of the new pedestrianised space in front of the Grade 1 listed building. The designs by Doodlher are inspired by symbols and historic events from the town hall.

The project is being delivered by Rochdale Development Agency on behalf of Rochdale Borough Council, and funded by the Council and National Lottery Heritage Fund. As well as the beautiful ‘carpet’ of natural paving slabs, the new Town Hall Square will have raised formal lawns, planting and feature benches echoing Rochdale’s rich textile history.
