Planning success for Quayside Quarter

Resolution to grant planning permission by Ealing Borough Council has been achieved for the redevelopment of Quayside Quarter, a new residential-led mixed-use development on the site of the former Honey Monster factory in Southall for client Galliard Homes.

The canal side development, which is set to benefit from the development of a new Crossrail Station, will transform this industrial area of Southall into an attractive and exciting new district, delivering approximately 2,000 new homes, community and commercial spaces, open green spaces, and a new film studio. The development will play a key role in wider regeneration of Southall and Ealing.

The masterplan, designed by EPR Architects in collaboration with Gillespies, consists of 10 individual buildings integrated within a 3.2-hectare high-quality public realm. The development of the buildings has been divided among four architects, including EPR, Levitt Bernstein, AHR and film studio specialists, PRS, with Gillespies responsible for the design of the public realm and landscape.

Our designs incorporate a variety of high quality open public spaces that will promote wellbeing and encourage community life. These include public plazas, pocket parks, play spaces, residential courtyards, a green circulation spine that runs through the centre of the site, and ribbons of open space and accessible trails along the northern bank of the Grand Union Canal.

The public realm will seamlessly integrate the site into the existing and proposed surroundings, improving permeability and connectivity to the wider precinct and connections to existing commercial and transport hubs.
