Planning granted for the 17.5 acre Fulham Gasworks

Plans have been approved for the redevelopment of the Fulham Gasworks on Imperial Road into an exemplary new neighbourhood. The residential-led mixed use development for developer St William Homes, a joint venture between National Grid and St William, part of Berkeley Group, will deliver 1,843 new homes with associated open spaces for residents, as well as retail spaces, offices, community and leisure facilities, cafes and restaurants, and a significant new park.

A public park at the heart of the scheme will not only provide a significant area of open space for the existing and emerging communities, but also an enhanced setting for the retained Grade-II listed Gasholder No 2, an exceptionally rare type of gasholder of which no other examples remain anywhere else in the world.

A new square and animated public realm provides an enhanced setting for several Grade II listed heritage buildings that have been retained including the 1856 Chief Engineer's Office, 1927 Former Research Laboratory, 1920 WW1 War Memorial and WW2 War Memorial.
