Six projects shortlisted for RICS Awards 2016

Gillespies is delighted to have been involved in six projects shortlisted in this year's RICS Awards in the North West and Yorkshire and Humber regions.

The RICS Awards showcase the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the environment.

Leicester Cathedral's Richard III Project 'With Dignity and Honour' has been shortlisted in the Tourism and Leisure and Design and Innovation Category for the East Midland Region.

In Yorkshire and Humber, 6 Wellington Place, a new corporate building in Leeds that overlooks the city's newest open space, Tower Square, has been shortlisted in the Commercial category.

The following schemes have beat off stiff competition to make the North West shortlist:

The Manchester Cancer Research Centre has been shortlisted in the Design through Innovation Category.

Vimto Gardens and Peel Park Quarter - both in Salford - have made the residential shortlist.

Port Sunlight Riverside Park on the Mersey Estuary has been nominated for a regeneration award. Gillespies led the designs of Port Sunlight Riverside Park, which is one of the largest new parks in the NW and has transformed a former landfill site closed off from public access into a community park providing a wildlife haven, public walkways and stunning views of Liverpool's iconic skyline.

The winners will be revealed at ceremonies in the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool and on 22 April and the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate on 13 May.
