Located in the heart of Stockport, Viaduct Park is an innovative new green space located atop the Transport for Greater Manchester's bus interchange. This vibrant park features new play areas and cycling connections to the town’s railway network, enhancing accessibility for residents and visitors.
Viaduct Park, developed in collaboration with Stockport Council, Transport for Greater Manchester, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and CityRise, is a transformative green space in the heart of Stockport, combining nature, community, and sustainable connectivity. The elevated park, designed by Wilmot Dixon alongside Gillespies, features interactive play areas, an events pavilion, festoon lighting and 1.5 km of cycling and walking paths, directly linking Stockport’s railway station to National Cycle Routes.
Prioritising sustainability and active transport, the park includes dedicated cycle paths and a footbridge to strengthen connections across Stockport, while 130 newly planted trees and rain gardens enhance stormwater management, helping to reduce runoff, support local biodiversity and create a resilient urban ecosystem.
Viaduct Park is part of a mixed-use development that also includes a residential complex with 196 new homes. Viaduct Park offers a destination for the community to connect, explore, and enjoy.
