Sheena's bio

Sheena is an Associate Partner at Gillespies’ Oxford studio and a Chartered landscape architect with over 30 years of experience in landscape masterplanning, town centre regeneration and public realm design. She has led the delivery of large-scale residential masterplans, new towns, garden communities, and growth extensions, working with both public and private clients to create sustainable, landscape-led places rooted in community and environmental value.

She has played a central role in Ebbsfleet Garden City, shaping the landscape strategy for Castle Hill and authoring the Ebbsfleet Public Realm Strategy, a landscape-led vision for one of the UK’s most ambitious new communities. Current projects include major urban extensions for The Crown Estate at East Hemel and Homes England at West Ifield, bringing forward resilient, nature-rich frameworks for long-term growth and Ealing Regional Park.

Sheena’s portfolio also includes extensive experience in town centre regeneration, from leading public realm improvements in Woking Town Centre to preparing development briefs for strategic infill sites in Canterbury. Her approach consistently focuses on placemaking, connectivity, and high-quality open space to revitalise urban centres.

She has significant expertise in green infrastructure and nationally significant infrastructure projects, including nuclear energy facilities, major water projects such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel, film and media studios, and large residential communities. Sheena integrates biodiversity net gain, ecological resilience, and long-term stewardship strategies into her designs, ensuring landscapes underpin both sustainability and place identity.

Sheena is a member of the Design South East Panel and an Expert for the Government’s High Streets Task Force, and regularly speaks at panels and conferences on topics such as new community development, sustainable placemaking and biodiversity net gain.
