Ryan's bio
Ryan joined Gillespies in 2021 as a graduate urban designer after graduating with a Master’s degree in Urban Design and City Planning from University College London. He has since been involved in a variety of masterplanning projects across the MENA region and the UK.
Before joining Gillespies as a Graduate Urban Designer, he worked for architectural practice Llewelyn Davies in Hong Kong as a town planning intern and Loftwork Inc as a design and fabrication intern, where he gained experience working within the built environment and design field. His academic background in urban design and planning has provided him with a vital understanding of urban design principles and ideologies surrounding place-making.
Ryan has a keen interest in city-scale regeneration and how urban design techniques can be applied and used as a catalyst for long-term growth. This interest informed his dissertation, which focused on redesigning public realms surrounding key transport infrastructure in declining urban areas to revert shrinkage and promote growth. He is currently working on the delivery of a streetscape design guidance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
