Rumeysa's bio
Rumeysa is a Landscape Architect experienced in the design and implementation of public realm schemes. She is motivated by the ever evolving practice of landscape architecture, the design process and complex practice that deals with different ecosystems, bringing about the challenge of working at different scales and layers. With her interest in the environment, she likes to decompose and question this complex and multi-layered process.
During her undergraduate studies at Istanbul Technical University, and whilst on an Exchange Programme at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, she worked on landscape projects of varying typologies and geographies, and gained a good understanding of the profession. After graduation, she started her Masters Degree at Istanbul Technical University, working on various design methods in landscape architecture and urban acupuncture. During this time she worked with different national and international disciplines to win awards in masterplanning, urban design and river rehabilitation.
Prior to joining Gillespies she worked for urban design and landscape architecture practices in Istanbul, working on Turkish and international projects of varying scale, including nature remediation, urban renewal, urban-rural transitions, urban storm water management and blue-green infrastructure schemes.
