George's bio

George is a Principal Urban Designer with many years of experience in UK and international master planning projects, from strategic to precinct scales.  George has more than 10 years experience delivering urban design and masterplanning projects of varying scales across the UK and Middle East, ranging from neighbourhood extensions and waterfront regenerations to city-wide strategic masterplans.His diverse experience allows him to work across a variety of sectors, applying strategic design principles throughout all design stages. George’s experience in Saudi Arabia includes both large-scale landscape and masterplanning schemes, such as the award-winning King Abdullah International Gardens in Riyadh. During the design of this ambitious paleobotanic botanic gardens, he worked from concept design, right through to tender stage delivery, including the drafting of CAD drawngs and reports, and the coordination with the joint venture partner and sub-consultants.

Since joining Gillespies, George has been instrumental in delivering the Hoo Development Framework, a strategic document to help Medway Council deliver its planned growth on the Hoo Peninsula in Kent, as part of a holistic vision that delivers a network of strategic open spaces and new transport infrastructure. He is also working on proposals to regenerate the waterfront in St Helier, Jersey. In addition, George is taking on a design manager role in several high-profile projects in Saudi Arabia, liasing with the client and sub-consultants to fulfill key project management requirements. George also takes a wider interest in design and has a developed an extensive collection of London Underground maps, which influences his approach to the design of diagrams and plans.
