Daniella's bio

Daniella is a Senior Landscape Architect at Gillespies, based in London, with experience across public realm, commercial, leisure, and residential projects, and particular expertise in town centre regeneration.

Originally from Canada, Daniella graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph, where her thesis, inspired by her hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, known as “Steel City”, explored the adaptive redevelopment of post-industrial sites. After graduating, she went on to work at FORREC, in Toronto, specialising in theme parks, resorts and waterparks in Asia and the Middle East. After a year, she moved to OMC Landscape Architects in Hamilton to gain more local, technical experience, before relocating to London and joining Gillespies in 2023.

Daniella believes that creating a strong sense of place is key to shaping thriving public landscapes. Her design philosophy is guided by the balance between culture and nature, ensuring that every space she creates is both distinctive and enduring. Notable projects include the reinvention of two major gaswork sites in London - King’s Road Park in Fulham and Kensal Green Gasworks, and the regeneration of the Aylesham Centre in Peckham.

With a background in fine art, Daniella brings a highly visual and creative expression to her work, using drawing and composition to develop a clear design narrative. This artistic approach helps her craft urban spaces that tell stories, celebrate identity and connect people with place. Daniella is a confident communicator and enjoys sharing the design journey with clients and collaborators alike.
