Adam's bio

Adam Greatrix is a Partner and landscape architect based in Gillespies’ Leeds studio, with over 20 years’ experience delivering transformative landscape architecture and public realm design projects across the UK. With a background in both architecture and landscape architecture, Adam brings a uniquely integrated approach to urban design, shaping regeneration strategies, masterplans, design and urban greening frameworks that reimagine how cities look, feel, and function.

Adam is a strong advocate for ecosystem-led landscape design, placing equal emphasis on human experience and biodiversity. His work reflects a bold environmental vision, treating urban spaces as living systems that support climate resilience, community wellbeing, and ecological richness. He frequently leads complex, multi-disciplinary teams, from concept development to stakeholder and community engagement.

Renowned for his creative thinking and technical rigour, Adam has delivered numerous high-impact landscape architecture projects, including the award-winning Bradford City Park, a key part of the city’s wider urban regeneration. His work on the Helix Innovation Quarter in Newcastle showcases best practice in climate-resilient design.

Adam has won two international competitions: the St Cuthbert’s Garden Village Landscape Design Competition, and the Landscape Institute’s Transforming the Urban Landscape competition for Back Down to Earth, a visionary proposal championing green infrastructure and nature-based planning. 

He is currently leading the landscape design for new overnight accommodation at Paulton’s Park, a major family destination in Hampshire.
