Two award wins at MIPIM

Crossrail Station Roof Garden and Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow have both picked up accolades at the 2016 MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards.

Crossrail Station Roof Garden has scooped the 'Best Urban Regeneration' Prize, an award that celebrates projects that have significantly contributed to the regeneration - both physically and economically - of a town or city, and Queen Elizabeth University Hospital & Royal Hospital for Children has picked up the prize for 'Best Healthcare Development', a new category for 2016 which focusses on the fast-growing healthcare property segment.

The Crossrail Station Roof Garden in Canary Wharf is the first new building to open for Crossrail - London's new east-west rail link. Located on top of the station, the garden is a celebration of the docklands heritage, containing a variety of plants that were brought to London from faraway lands by merchant ships. Gillespies worked closely with architects Foster + Partners, Adamson Associates, and Tony Meadows Associates, Arup Engineers, Growth Industry and the client, Canary Wharf Contractors Ltd

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital & Royal Hospital for Children is a 14-storey super hospital in Glasgow, and sits amongst Europe's largest and most advanced medical campuses, setting a new benchmark in healthcare design and delivery.  Set within an extensive public realm, the building's strikingly different geometric forms - inspired by Clydeside's maritime heritage - create an iconic landmark which has transformed the Govan skyline.

Gillespies delivered the new masterplan and landscape designs for the landmark Glasgow Hospital which was designed by architects, IBI Group and constructed by Brookfield Multiplex in collaboration with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Board.

Now in their 15th year, the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards celebrate excellence in unbuilt or incomplete projects spanning across twelve separate categories. The awards recognise the worlds most remarkable property developments as chosen by industry peers. The prize was announced at a prestigious prize giving ceremony in Cannes during MIPIM on 16 March.
