South Gardens scoops Housing Project of the Year at 2018 Building Awards

We are delighted to see that South Gardens, Elephant Park, has won Housing Project of the Year at the prestigious Building Awards 2018. The scheme is the first phase of the landmark Elephant Park regeneration project in Elephant and Castle by developer Lend Lease, delivering 360 new homes designed by Maccreanor Lavington Architects. The masterplan is set to deliver almost 2,500 new homes, retail and restaurants spaces, new opens spaces, improved ‘green’ streets, and a brand new park at the heart of the development.

The public realm design for South Gardens provides a series of tree-lined streets, easy-to-navigate cycling routes and open spaces that form a green network of improved connections and spaces that are accessible to all, safe, playful and promote community cohesion.

Gillespies are the public realm masterplanner for the entire Elephant Park site, as well as the landscape designer for its additional phases and brand new park. The overall landscape masterplan aims to establish Elephant Park as one of the city’s greenest places to live, with more than a hundred mature trees retained and nearly 300 new trees planted over the life of the project.
