Sheena Bell joins Landscape Institute to deliver seminar to Defra and Natural England

Associate Partner Sheena Bell spoke to senior figures from Defra and Natural England at a Landscape Institute webinar held on Wednesday 14th April. The event explored the value of landscapes for society’s health and wellbeing and the barriers to success.

Sheena sat on a panel alongside Landscape Institute President Jane Findlay and Associate Landscape Architect Alison King from LUC. The audience comprised over 80 representatives from Natural England’s Landscape Network. This is the fourth webinar in an overall series by Natural England addressing 'what we want our landscapes to deliver for a 21st-century society'.

The key themes that came out of the webinar included:

  • The ability of the landscape to deliver multiple functions- health, wellbeing, climate resilience and biodiversity
  • Access to open space for all communities, including more deprived and ethnically diverse
  • Funding and long term management of both new and existing open spaces - this was deemed a big issue
