North Quay planning permission
Canary Wharf Group and Kadans Science Partner have gained planning approval from Tower Hamlets Council for the development of a 'vertical campus' commercial health and life sciences building at North Quay.
We've been pleased to be part of the excellent project team: Gillespies designed the public realm and community space at the foot of the building and its approach. The design incorporates cycle parking, seating, planted walkways, and breakout space surrounded by lush planting.
The 23-storey 76,500m2 tower, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, is targeting BREEAM rating Excellent, with an aim for Outstanding for the laboratory and office areas. Its site is opposite the Elizabeth line station at Canary Wharf in London, where Gillespies designed the award-winning Crossrail Place roof garden.
In 2021 Gillespies delivered the landscape framework for Canary Wharf, part of Canary Wharf Group's commitment to achieve net-zero carbon by 2030.
Thank you to everyone involved in the project, especially Stephen Richards, Armel Mourgue, Rachel He, Ashutosh Chhipiye, Hana Shin, Kamonchanok Srisaovanant, Paul Whittle, Qingzi Li, and Yixing Luo.
