New Cross Apartments, Manchester, submitted for planning

Gillespies worked with Balfour Beatty Investments and Hodder and Partners on the  planning application for New Cross Apartments, a residential-led mixed-use development within New Cross, Manchester.

The Private Rented Sector development - designed by architects Hodder and Partners - will provide two apartment blocks offering 274 new homes that overlook a central landscape courtyard, concierge facilities, residents' lounges and gym. Two rooftop terraces incorporating private dining pavilions have been designed to take advantage of surrounding roof top views across the city centre.

Gillespies' Manchester office have been commissioned to create a new public realm that will seamlessly connect the new development to the wider surrounding area as well as a semi-private landscape courtyard for residents and two rooftop gardens.

Situated in the New Cross area of the city, close to the Northern Quarter and Piccadilly Gardens, the residential-led development fits into Manchester City Council’s New Cross Development Framework, aimed at regenerating the area.

If successful, construction is due to commence in late 2016, with the first occupants due to move in by 2018.
