Metrolink Tram - Dramatic New Proposals for Manchester's St Peter's Square

Gillespies is currently advising Transport for Greater Manchester (Metrolink) and Manchester City Council on route options for a second tram route across the city centre.

Passing through historic and culturally significant urban spaces our urban design team have considered how the new route can retain the best elements of the current city centre layout, while enhancing key public spaces.

In public consultation until September, the proposals will rationalise St Peter's Square creating a new public garden at the north and repositioning of the Cenotaph to a more respectful position behind the Town Hall.

Ease of movement, enjoyment of public areas and visual harmony are at the heart of the new vision for Manchester's city centre trams.
