Katie Maude takes part in the Green Plant It Challenge

Landscape architect Katie Maude was a mentor for six Year 9 students at Newall Green High School in Wythenshawe, as part of the 2017 Green Plan It Challenge.

Now in its second year, the challenge offered 800 12-14 years a glimpse into horticultural careers as they competed in eight regional events, ranging from Bristol to Edinburgh.

Over the course of the challenge, Katie visited the school to offer advice and support as the students designed a roof terrace garden for their school. The students carried out research before developing a 3D model which they presented on Friday 8 December at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester.

Winners of this year’s competition are still to be announced.
