Kamila Tobola is awarded the Leeds Beckett University’s MA Landscape Architecture Award

We are delighted to announce that Kamila Tobola, a graduate landscape architect in our Leeds studio, was awarded the Leeds Beckett University's coveted MA Landscape Architecture Award for her final year project, ‘GI Injections’.

Kamila explains her project in more detail:

“Based on the city of Krakow in Poland, my project – aptly named GI Injections – consists of two parts. The first part took a “slice” of the city, analysed it and indicated spaces that could be transformed and improved by injecting green infrastructure into the urban fabric, to improve the quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors.

The second part focused on the reinvention of ‘Liban Quarry’, an abandoned space that is first and foremost a place of remembrance for the victims of the Nazi labour camp that operated during Kraków's WWII occupation. I wanted to avoid making it a memorial space as there is a large requirement in the city for active and attractive spaces, so I decided to make a “reverse monument” – I created a space that highlights life, energy and rebirth.

I’m thrilled to have won the Leeds Beckett University’s MA Landscape Architecture Award! It feels amazing to complete this challenging work and have recognition from my peers.”

Well done Kamila!
