Gillespies shortlisted for Leeds City Square Competition

Gillespies is one of five teams shortlisted for a design competition launched by Leeds City Council and Balfour Beatty, to transform Leeds City Square into a world-class, vibrant and inclusive space that showcases the city’s diverse population, cultural richness and climate change ambitions, whilst also creating a new gateway to the city centre.

Gillespies are leading a highly acclaimed and innovative team and have outlined a pioneering vision for the transformation and evolution of City Square.

Adam Greatrix, Associate Partner in Leeds, commented; “We are immensely excited at the prospect of this competition. Our team, and their families, live their lives in and around this city. We walk and cycle through City Square every day. For us, this project is very personal, an opportunity to give something back, and reinvest our knowledge and expertise into our home city.”

The five shortlisted teams will now each receive an honorarium to participate in the second round and develop a design concept for the area. The winning team will be appointed to work under Balfour Beatty on the delivery of the project.
