Gillespies makes 2021 World Landscape Architecture Shortlist

We are delighted to announce that our concept Back Down to Earth, a competition-winning entry by Adam Greatrix and Hilary Barber that radically rethinks and pioneers an environmental revolution in street design, has been shortlisted in the Conceptual Design category at the 2021 World Landscape Architecture Awards.

The concept, which won the ‘transforming the urban landscape’ competition, a design contest launched by the Landscape Institute to generate new thinking in the design and management of our cities, focuses on the South Parade in Leeds, radically rethinking how an unremarkable street could incrementally start to enrich the social and environmental fabric of our cities. Peeling away the existing grey carpet, ‘back down to earth’ promotes an ecosystem-led approach where people and biodiversity have equal importance to create a balanced, thriving and resilient streetscape for people and nature.

The annual international landscape architecture awards seek to recognise landscape architects for their outstanding work and promote the profession across the world.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday 18 May 2021.
