Five Town Parks in Castleford secures planning consent

Five Towns Park, a new 500,000 square feet retail development in Castleford, West Yorkshire, has been granted planning consent by Wakefield Council.

The development by Lateral Property Group creates a new Community Stadium for Castleford Tigers RLFC, a 50-acre country park and 50,000 square feet of new flagship retail space.

The design of the country park by Gillespies creates significant areas of new habitat that will enhance the ecological value of the site with some 20-acres of new woodland, 7.5-acres of wetlands and water bodies; 5km of trails and cycleways, picnic areas and informal play facilities for the local communities.

The overall scheme will create around 2,000 much needed jobs for the area, along with wider social and economic benefits for the local community in the form of a new community stadium and country park.
