Colney Hatch gets green light
The London Borough of Barnet has given the green light for the development of 204 new homes at Colney Hatch Lane in north London.
The scheme for client Montreaux Limited consists of two buildings up to seven storeys, hidden by a woodland. The development will deliver much-needed new homes together with 1,800 square metres of commercial space and new landscaping and an enhanced public realm by Gillespies.
Working alongside the lead architect Assael Architecture, our landscape-led approach creates a sensitive setting adjacent to a Local Nature Reserve and MOL, and draws inspiration from the local landscape context to create a diverse mosaic of natural habitat typologies across the roof, podium and ground floor public realm.
The landscape proposals deliver an above target Urban Greening Factor on a constrained brownfield site, helping to increase local biodiversity and ultimately establish an inviting place for residents to rest, play and engage with nature.
