Celebrations as BBC Television Centre reopens after five-years transformation

Last weekend signalled the reopening of the Television Centre in west London, with a three-day food festival within the new forecourt. The Live at Television Centre festival – which was a free event from 12-14th April - featured food vendors, unique pop-ups, interactive workshops and performances of BBC theme tunes from the BBC Concert Orchestra.

The BBC Television Centre has been transformed into a mixed-use development providing office and studio space for the BBC, entertainment and leisure facilities, public open spaces, offices, housing and a new members’ club Soho House, with a hotel.

The Television Centre has been opened up for the first time to the public through the introduction of new outdoor spaces by Gillespies, with the aim of establishing a new neighbourhood that is completely open and walkable. The new public realm reinvents the existing forecourt, Helios Courtyard and Crescent Boulevard, providing a series of attractive green spaces, which gives an address on to Wood Lane and provides a unique environment for an array of year-round events.
