Albert and Swedish Wharf gets green light

We're delighted to have played a key role in supporting Henley Investment Management and EPR in successfully securing planning consent for the preservation and revitalisation of Albert and Swedish Wharf in Fulham, delivering the landscape and public realm design.

The proposed development is set to reimagine the 2-acre brownfield site on the north bank of the Thames, close to Wandsworth Bridge, into an exciting new riverside mixed-use community. Featuring a cluster of six to 17-storey buildings, suspended above the safeguarded Swedish Wharf, the proposed development will provide 276 apartments and a range of residential amenities at both ground and roof levels.

Between the architectural volumes, two interconnected residential amenity podiums are revealed at both lower and upper levels, offering residents a variety of lushly planted shady courtyard spaces, and sun-bathed riverside gardens. From small, intimate spaces for relaxation to generously sized communal areas for play and socialising, these courtyards cater to the diverse needs of the residents. The upper levels of the buildings will host a series of roof terraces and green roofs, providing further amenity space and boosting local biodiversity.

The scheme will also provide a new riverside route that will form part of the Thames Path. A dramatic stepped link and accessible lifts will ascend from Wandsworth Bridge, up to an elevated vantage point with sweeping views across the River. Commercial café space and publicly accessible gardens provide opportunities to pause and relax.

Congratulations to the entire team: Henley Investment Management, EPR Architects, Buro Four, WSP, DP9, Sweco, Trium Environmental Consulting, GIA, Sandy Brown and Twin & Earth.
