30 Minories and Writers House given green light
We’re delighted to share that the City of London has approved plans to redevelop 30 Minories and Writers House.
The proposals by PLP Architecture for clients Patrizia and Morgan Capital will redevelop a post-war office block in Aldgate into a striking, best-in-class workplace with the highest sustainability credentials.
The designs will offer numerous community benefits, including a more generous streetscape along the Minories, the revitalisation of forgotten public spaces through the creation of Sheppy Place, outdoor biophilic terraces of various sizes that provide a green and healthy escape from work desks for office workers and a series of biodiverse roofs that will serve as new stepping stones for biodiversity in this part of London.
The plans will also see Writers House retained, establishing it as a dedicated community facility and workspace with affordable rates for local enterprises and start-ups.
The development is targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’, WiredScore Platinum, WELL Platinum and NABERS UK, and will aim for a net-zero carbon design in operation.
Gillespies is delivering landscape and public realm design, working alongside a collaborative team, including: Patrizia, Morgan Capital, PLP Architecture, DP9, SWECO, AKT II, Montagu Evans, Core Five, and Kim Wilkie.
